TheTVAPP – Live Sports, Movies & News Dashboard

TheTVAPPis a modern entertainment discovery dashboard designed to bring sports schedules, movie information, and current news into one clean and responsive interface. Instead of switching between multiple pages to search for sports events, movie information, or news stories, users can explore different types of entertainment content through a single dashboard.

The interface is designed to work smoothly inside a WordPress website without modifying the site's existing header or navigation. It uses a responsive layout that adapts to desktop, tablet, and mobile screens while keeping the main content organized and easy to browse.

TheTVAPP focuses on information and discovery. Sports data is displayed from public scoreboard data, movie information can come from Wikidata or an optional TMDB integration, and news content is retrieved from a news data source. The dashboard does not host or distribute copyrighted streams.

What Is TheTVAPP?

TheTVAPP is an entertainment information dashboard combining three major categories:

  • Sports
  • Movies
  • News

The dashboard includes search, category tabs, filters, automatic data updates, event cards, movie information, news summaries, and full-detail popups.

When the dashboard loads, it automatically requests the latest available data from its configured sources. Users can also manually refresh the information whenever they want.

The interface provides a simple way to browse entertainment information without requiring users to understand complicated data feeds or APIs.

Sports Section

The Sports section is one of the main features of TheTVAPP. It is designed to display sports events, upcoming games, live games, scores, schedules, teams, venues, and broadcast information when that information is available from the public scoreboard source.

The current configuration includes several major sports and competitions.

NFL

The dashboard can retrieve NFL scoreboard information, including scheduled games and available event status information.

For individual games, the interface can display:

  • Teams
  • Game time
  • Current status
  • Scores
  • Venue
  • Broadcast information
  • League information
  • Official event link

Live events can be visually identified through the event status displayed on the card.

NBA

NBA games can also be displayed through the sports dashboard. Users can browse scheduled and active games and open the available event information for additional details.

Depending on the data returned by the source, users may see team names, logos, scores, game time, venue information, and broadcast details.

NHL

The NHL integration allows hockey events to appear within the Sports section.

The dashboard organizes NHL events into cards so users can quickly identify the teams involved and determine whether an event is scheduled, currently live, or completed.

MLB

MLB scoreboard data is also supported.

Users can browse baseball events and see available information such as:

  • Home team
  • Away team
  • Scores
  • Event time
  • Venue
  • Broadcast details
  • Event status

Premier League

The dashboard also supports Premier League soccer data.

Users can browse upcoming and available Premier League fixtures from the same Sports interface instead of using a separate section for soccer.

LaLiga

LaLiga events are supported as another soccer competition.

The dashboard can display available match information including participating teams, schedule information, status, scores, and event links.

UEFA Champions League

The configuration also includes UEFA Champions League scoreboard data.

This allows users to browse Champions League events through the same interface used for other sports competitions.

MLS

Major League Soccer is included in the configured sports sources as well.

Users can browse available MLS fixtures and event information alongside other soccer competitions.

College Football

College football scoreboard information can also be displayed.

This provides an additional category for users interested in American college football.

College Basketball

The dashboard supports men's college basketball scoreboard data as well.

Together, these sports integrations give the Sports section coverage across professional and college competitions.

Live Sports Information

TheTVAPP separates event status into different states.

A game that is currently taking place can be identified as Live, while upcoming events are displayed as Starting Soon. Completed games are identified separately as finished events.

The dashboard also calculates summary statistics at the top of the page.

These include:

  • Live Now
  • Starting Soon
  • Movies
  • Shown

The numbers update when fresh data is loaded.

This gives users a quick overview of the amount of information currently available without manually counting events.

Sports Search and Filters

The Sports section includes filtering functionality that makes it easier to locate specific competitions.

Users can select the Sports tab and then choose available league filters. Depending on the returned data, filters can include competitions such as NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, Premier League, LaLiga, Champions League, MLS, college football, and college basketball.

The search box can also be used to search for teams, leagues, events, or other available information.

Full Sports Details

Each sports card includes a Full Details button.

Opening the details view can display additional information such as:

  • League
  • Event status
  • Start time
  • Venue
  • Away team
  • Home team
  • Scores
  • Broadcast information

The details window also provides an option to open the official event page when an appropriate source link is available.

This approach keeps the dashboard focused on discovery while allowing users to continue to the original source for additional information.

Watch Now Button

The Sports cards include a Watch Now button.

In the current implementation, this button opens the event/source URL provided by the scoreboard data rather than embedding or hosting a video stream on the website.

This is an important distinction: TheTVAPP is an information and navigation interface. It does not upload, host, re-stream, or bypass access controls for copyrighted sports broadcasts.

Where available, users are directed to the relevant official or original event page.

Movies Section

The Movies section provides movie discovery and basic movie metadata inside the same dashboard.

TheTVAPP supports two approaches for movie information.

The first is an optional TMDB integration. The second is a keyless Wikidata-based fallback.

This means the Movies section can continue functioning even when a TMDB API key has not been configured.

Movie Data With TMDB

Website owners can optionally configure a TMDB API key through the dashboard's Settings interface.

When a valid key is available, the tool can request movie information from TMDB.

The dashboard supports:

  • Trending movies
  • Movie search
  • Movie titles
  • Release dates
  • Descriptions
  • Ratings
  • Movie detail links

The movie results are converted into the dashboard's card format so that they can be displayed alongside other content.

For a public website, API credentials should be handled carefully. The current browser-based implementation stores the optional key in local browser storage, while the code itself recommends using a server-side proxy for public or commercial deployments where exposing an API key in page source would be undesirable.

Wikidata Movie Feed

Users who do not configure a TMDB key can still use the Movies section.

The dashboard attempts to retrieve movie metadata through public Wikidata services.

Wikidata can provide structured information about films, including:

  • Movie title
  • Release date
  • Related entity
  • Wikipedia article
  • Public metadata

The dashboard converts available results into movie cards.

This keyless approach means users do not necessarily need to create a paid or private API configuration just to view basic movie information.

Movie Search

The Movies section includes search functionality.

Users can enter a movie name or keyword into the main search box and the dashboard attempts to find matching movie information.

If TMDB is configured, the search can use TMDB's movie search endpoint. Without TMDB, the system can use the Wikidata search process.

This makes the movie discovery feature flexible for different website configurations.

Movie Cards

Each movie is displayed as a dedicated card.

A typical movie card can include:

  • Movie title
  • Release date
  • Data source
  • Movie description
  • Movie details link
  • Full Details button

The card layout is responsive, so multiple movie cards can appear across larger screens while smaller devices switch to a more compact single-column layout.

Full Movie Details

The Full Details option opens a modal window containing additional movie information.

Depending on the source, the information can include:

  • Release date
  • Data source
  • Movie description
  • External movie details page

The external link allows users to continue to the original movie information source.

TheTVAPP itself does not host movie files or copyrighted video content.

News Section

The News section adds current news discovery to the dashboard.

Instead of limiting the website to sports and movies, TheTVAPP can display recent news stories in a dedicated News tab.

The configured news system requests recent results and organizes them into cards.

Current News Information

A news card can include:

  • Headline
  • Short description
  • Publication date
  • Publisher or source
  • News image when available
  • Original story link

This allows visitors to scan headlines and decide which stories they want to open.

News Search

The main search field can also be used for news discovery.

A user can enter a keyword, topic, name, or other search phrase and the configured news source can return matching results.

The dashboard then displays the available results using the same responsive card design.

News Sources

News information is retrieved from the configured external news provider.

Because third-party feeds can change their response format or availability, the dashboard includes error handling. If a provider is temporarily unavailable, the News section can simply show that no current items are available rather than breaking the entire page.

This makes the overall dashboard more resilient when external services experience temporary problems.

News Filters

When news data includes publisher/source information, TheTVAPP can automatically create filters from the available sources.

Users can select a source filter to narrow the displayed stories.

This can be useful when the dashboard contains news from multiple publishers.

Search Across the Dashboard

One of the most useful features of TheTVAPP is its central search interface.

The search field supports queries related to:

  • Teams
  • Leagues
  • Sports events
  • Movies
  • News stories
  • Keywords

The search system works together with the currently selected dashboard category.

For example, users can select Movies and search for a specific film, or select News and search for a particular topic.

The interface updates the displayed results without requiring a separate page for every category.

Responsive Design

TheTVAPP is designed for modern responsive websites.

On desktop screens, the dashboard can display multiple cards in a grid.

On smaller screens, the layout automatically changes:

  • Desktop: three-column content grid
  • Tablet: two-column grid
  • Mobile: single-column grid

The search area also changes to a vertical layout on smaller devices.

This responsive structure helps maintain usability across desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

Automatic Data Updates

The dashboard is designed around automatic data retrieval.

When the page loads, it requests sports, movie, and news information.

The interface also includes a Refresh button that allows users to manually request fresh information.

In addition, the JavaScript configuration schedules an automatic refresh every five minutes.

This helps the Sports section remain reasonably current during a user's session, although the freshness of information ultimately depends on the external data providers.

External API or feed delays can mean that the dashboard may not always reflect an event immediately.

Dashboard Status

The dashboard includes a status indicator near the top of the interface.

During a refresh, the status changes to indicate that data is being refreshed.

After the update completes, it returns to the normal automatic data mode.

If some providers fail while others continue working, the dashboard can still display the successfully retrieved information.

This partial-data approach prevents one unavailable provider from necessarily taking down the entire dashboard.

What TheTVAPP Does Not Do

TheTVAPP is not designed to host copyrighted media.

The dashboard does not:

  • Upload movies
  • Store sports broadcasts
  • Re-stream live television
  • Bypass paywalls
  • Circumvent access restrictions
  • Distribute copyrighted streams
  • Host unauthorized copies of movies or news content

Instead, the tool displays publicly available metadata and links users to original or external source pages.

Website owners should independently review the terms, licensing requirements, attribution requirements, and acceptable-use policies of every external data provider they integrate.

TheTVAPP Settings

The Settings button provides an optional configuration area for movie data.

The main optional setting is the TMDB API key.

Users can:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Enter a TMDB API key.
  3. Save the key.
  4. Reload movie data.
  5. Clear the key later if necessary.

Without a TMDB key, the dashboard attempts to use its keyless movie-data fallback.

This gives site owners flexibility when configuring the movie discovery portion of the dashboard.

Graceful Fallbacks

External APIs can occasionally become unavailable, change response formats, or return no results.

The dashboard therefore includes fallback behavior.

For movies, the code includes a local informational fallback containing example movie metadata when the external movie sources cannot return usable results.

Sports data is collected independently for each configured league. Because the requests are handled separately, a problem with one league does not necessarily prevent the other sports from loading.

The News section also handles failed requests without breaking the rest of the dashboard.

Why Use a Combined Sports, Movies and News Dashboard?

A combined entertainment dashboard can make content discovery simpler.

Instead of maintaining separate interfaces for every category, TheTVAPP places several types of information within a single system.

Visitors can move from Sports to Movies or News using the category tabs.

The interface also maintains a consistent visual design across all three categories, making it easier for users to understand how cards, filters, search, and details work.

Conclusion

TheTVAPP combines sports information, movie discovery, and news headlines into one responsive dashboard.

The Sports section provides schedules, event status, teams, scores, venues, and available broadcast information. The Movies section supports optional TMDB integration along with a keyless Wikidata fallback. The News section provides recent headlines and links to available original stories.

Search, filters, automatic updates, responsive cards, and Full Details modals make the dashboard easier to explore.
